Evaluation of ecto and endo parasitic fauna of Schizothorax plagiostomus inhabitants of river Swat, Khyber PakhtunKhwa, Pakistan

Abstract Fish is consumed as a rich and cheaper source of white meat proteins all over the world. farming leading income generation throughout The present research study was conducted with aims to investigate ecto endo parasitic fauna S. plagiostomus (snow trout) in River Swat. A total 96 fish samples were collected on monthly basis from July-2018 February-2019, upper, middle lower reaches. help cast net, hand net fishing rods. Local fishermen experts also sought out for collection. 61 fishes found infected by helminth parasites. prevalence intensity 63.54% 2.90 observed respectively during data analysis. Highest 83.33% recorded July August, while lowest 33.33% noted February. Five species helminths parasites detected plagiostomus, which two trematodes (Rhabdochona shizothoracis Rhabdochona species), one Monogenia (Diplozoon paraddoxum), Cestodes (Nippotaenia Acanthocephalan (Neoechynorhynchus devdevi). parasite wise prevalence, relative density 21.87%, 4.09 0.895 R. schizothoracis 4.16%, 1.25 0.052 N. devdevi. infection 76.08% adults host lowest, 40% infestation rate young samples. 73.68% female hosts only 56.90% male individuals. Higher (83.33%) noticed summer season, (44.44%) winter season. Similarly 71.79% that reaches Swat than upper (52%).
